Vaidya Jayagopal. Parla (Jay)
BAMS, Master’s in Ayurveda, CMT, MAOM
Jayagopal Parla (Vaidya Jay) is an internationally known speaker, educator, and practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine and yoga with extensive clinical and teaching experience.
Vaidya Jay holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from Bangalore University, India, and a Master’s Degree in Ayurvedic medicine with a specialty in herbal medicine from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India. He also graduated with a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program from Southern California University of Health Sciences. He is a fellow of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. Vaidya Jay is a certified yoga therapist and completed a yoga teacher training program at the Bihar School of Yoga.
He is the Founder and Director of Athreya Ayurvedic Integrative Health Center, Long Beach; Founder and Vice President of Athreya Herbs, a U.S.-based provider of Ayurvedic herbal formulations; and Director of Athreya Ayurvedic Academy. He is a Southern California University of Health Sciences faculty member and clinician. Additionally, he serves as faculty at Mount Madonna College of Ayurveda, Kerala Ayurveda Academy, and serves as a visiting faculty member at the Japan School of Ayurvedic Medicine. His additional work on behalf of complementary and alternative medical approaches includes extensive travel to foster the growth of Ayurveda worldwide and numerous presentations on Ayurvedic medicine at various national and international conferences.
His area of expertise includes pain management, chronic health conditions. healthy weight management. musculoskeletal conditions, skin care, digestive imbalances, women’s health, and anti-aging therapies.
Vaidya Anupama Kizhakkeveettil (Anu)
BAMS, L.Ac, CMT, Ph.D.
Vaidya Anupama Kizhakkeveettil (Anu) is an Ayurvedic Practitioner, licensed acupuncturist, yoga teacher, and Professor and Program Director of Ayurvedic Medicine at Southern California University of Health Sciences. Her many contributions to the field of complementary and alternative medicine include extensive travel to propagate Ayurveda worldwide, numerous research presentations at national and international conferences, frequent publication in various peer-reviewed research journals, and regular participation as a peer reviewer at conferences as well as journals.
She currently serves on the Research Working Group of the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health and is Co-Principal Investigator for an NIH-funded research study. She has received a number of awards for her work on Ayurveda and complementary and alternative medicine. She was also invited to attend WHO’s International Expert consulting meeting in 2019 and 2020. As an advocate for the Ayurvedic profession and the advancement of its goals, Vaidya Anu serves on the boards of the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine and the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA). Vaidya Anu has been actively participating in the American public health Association’s Integrative, Complementary, and Traditional Health Practices Section since 2007.

Her main interests are managing musculoskeletal conditions, mental health, women’s health, and preventative care. She believes in an integrative approach to health and wellness care.
